Flaring at Petroineos Grangemouth Refinery

Date published: 14th July 2023

SEPA has received the following community notice regarding recommissioning work at the Petroineos Grangemouth refinery site.

"Following the completion of planned maintenance turnaround works, our team at the refinery will begin the recommissioning of processing plant from today. We are taking this opportunity to advise the local community that there may be some increased elevated flaring and noise from the refinery over the coming days as the production unit comes back online. We will make every effort to minimise the level and duration of the flaring."

SEPA expects the operator to minimise disruption from these activities where possible.
